  • Leadership:
    • Value Centered Leadership - Introduces foundational concepts including integrity, honesty, and the importance of leading from our Christian values.
    • Proactive Leadership – Compares and contrasts taking a proactive stance to a reactive one when making choices, discerning relationships, and leading others.
    • The Spirituality of a Christian Leader – Based off personality profiles, teens will discern their preferred prayer style and discover ways to develop their personal prayer life.
  • Seattle YouthLeader 009Discipleship:
    •  Lead Like Jesus – Challenges teens to bring faith into action by exploring the qualities of Jesus as a leader and applying them to contemporary daily situations.
    • The Gifts of Young People – Prayerfully invites teens to reflect on the needs of the world today and then identify how their “youthful” gifts can be a resource to meet those needs.
    • Mission and Spirit – Supports one in understanding the importance of their faith in reaching personal goals in life. Teens are guided through a reflective process that results in each person writing his or her own personal mission statement.
    • Social InnovationEncourages teens to ask how our faith calls them into action on behalf of justice, peace, and solidarity. Teens will discern their passion for global issues work to create ideas for change.
  • Leadership Skills:
    • Communication Skills – Teaches practical skills for interpersonal and group communication.
    • Group Facilitation – Prepares teens to successfully facilitate small group discussions with their peers.
    • Win-Win Negotiating – Promotes skills and attitudes needed to negotiate win/win solutions instead of conflicts.
    • Planning and Time Management Skills – Guides participants through the process of prioritizing what is most important in ministry and in their lives.

    • Prayer Experiences - Daily prayers and celebration of the Eucharist will be prepared and lead by program participants. Evening worship celebrates our understanding and integration of Catholic ritual actions through a selection of prayer experiences. Teens will have active leadership roles in all the community prayers.
  • Evening Socials:
    • Fun Community Building and Socials - Teens have opportunities during YouthLeader to prepare community-building activities and to practice their leadership skills with their peers.
