Young Neighbors in Action is CMD's week-long, summer, service learning experience for older adolescents (9th through 12th graders).
Young Neighbors provides a solid, Catholic approach to service and justice that balances Scripture and Catholic social teaching, direct service, and a justice consciousness. It provides the experiences, skills, and learning needed to make change possible. The cost of the program is $395 per participant.
The program begins Sunday afternoon and ends with Eucharist Saturday morning. The typical daily schedule looks like this:
6:30 AM Wake Up Call
7:15 AM Breakfast
8:00 AM Morning Prayer and Send-Off
8:30 AM Departure for Work Sites
9:00 AM Work Sites (work/lunch/sharing)
3:30/4:00 PM Return from Work Sites
Team Journaling & Sharing (if not done on site)
Recreation, Relaxation, Clean Up, Snacks
Adult Leader Check-In with Program Director
5:45 PM Site Sharing/Dinner Grace
6:00 PM Dinner
6:45 PM Adult Meeting
7:30 PM Evening Program
9:00 PM Evening Prayer
9:30 PM Team Time/Social Time
11:00 PM Lights Out
